Chester Town Crier at the High Cross
Chester is the only place in Britain to have retained the historical tradition of regular midday proclamations from a fixed point in the city. It's free and totally unforgettable.
Proclamations take place Tuesday to Saturday at 12 noon (11.00am on Race Days).2/3rd June 2017
LDF International Polo
The polo returns to Chester Racecourse in 2017, with the LDF International Tournament on the 2nd and 3rd June and the Roodee Challenge Cup on the 8th and 9th September.
General admission entry is free on the first day of each event and just £8 on the second day. Children aged 17 and under go free to all Chester Polo events.

MidSummer Watch Parade
Celebrating the summer solstice, the Midsummer Watch Parade returns to Chester on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25.
Featuring the family of Chester giants, the procession begins at 2pm on the Town Hall Square
One of the country’s oldest and most colourful street parades, it was first recorded in 1498.
The summer watch was originally staged by the City Guilds at Midsummer and was disbanded in the 1670’s before being revived in 1989.9th July 2017
Race for Life
This is no ordinary 5k.
This is thousands of women uniting with one purpose. To come together. To raise money. To BEAT CANCER.5k (or just over 3 miles) is an achievable distance for all ages and abilities. You can take part however you like and choose to run, jog or walk your way around the course
One of the best ways to have fun and raise money for Race for Life is to get together as a group. If you’d like to take part with a group of friends and family then we have all the information you need on our webiste.
Those who jog or run Race for Life often complete the 5k course in about 30 to 45 minutes. Walkers take about an hour, but there’s no pressure to finish in a certain time. It’s all about uniting in the fight against cancer.4th July to 26th August
Moonlight Flicks in Chester
Chester’s only open air cinema returns to the picturesque Roman gardens
from 4 July to 26 August, with over 35 screenings of nine different films.
Last year, Moonlight Flicks

Penman’s Antiques Show at Chester Racecourse is acclaimed as the best of its kind in the North West. The show proves to be a lure to both exhibitors and visitors who travel long distances to the show, the venue, ambiance and catering are outstanding – and Chester is full of beautiful architecture, shops, restaurants and hotels for a weekend away!
Chester Antiques Show offers 40-45 stands of antiques and art extending over 3 floors of the County Grandstand at Chester Racecourse.

Chester's Christmas Market
Chester’s Christmas Market, managed by Marketing Cheshire, is back for a fifth year with more chalets and later opening hours. With an emphasis on local and regional produce, Chester Christmas Market gives visitors to the city a unique, festive shopping experience, as well as supporting many Chester and Cheshire small businesses, giving them an outlet to sell their wares over the busy Christmas period. The official opening of the market is on Mid November, with a soft launch shortly before to coincide with the Light Switch On Parade and late night shopping in the city. The market will then run for a full month until Mid December (dates not known in April).
