returns 8 – 23 October with over 60 events! This year features appearances from best-selling authors, adventurers, comedians and poets and features performances, workshops, film screenings, walking tours, afternoon teas and the ever-popular poetry pub crawl. Highlights include leading names and rising stars featuring Ranulph Fiennes, Victoria Hislop, James Kelman, John Osborne, Sara Pascoe, Matthew Parris, Ian McMillan, Laura Barnett, Ann Cleeves, Lemn Sissay and Margaret Drabble.
So whether you’re partial to poetry or politics, looking to laugh or to learn, and if you fancy a famous face or a new one, there’s something for everyone at the Chester Literature Festival.10th October
Opera Evening at Carluccio's
Enjoy an evening of Opera at Carluccio’s, Bridge Street Chester on Monday 10th October at 7pm

Opera evenings start with a glass of prosecco and some canapés on arrival, followed by an introductory song from the singers. The evening consists of a three course meal with a 20 minute performance from the Opera singers after each course. Price covers entertainment and food on the evening. Chester Antiques Show
Penman’s Antiques Show at Chester Racecourse is acclaimed as the best of its kind in the North West. The show proves to be a lure to both exhibitors and visitors who travel long distances to the show, the venue, ambiance and catering are outstanding – and Chester is full of beautiful architecture, shops, restaurants and hotels for a weekend away!
Chester Antiques Show offers 40-45 stands of antiques and art extending over 3 floors of the County Grandstand at Chester Racecourse.

Chester Car Rally Week
See the stars of the World Rally Championship up close in the city centre on Friday 28th. The culmination of Chester Rally week sees the UK round of the World Rally Championship grace our streets. The Official Dayinsure Wales Rally GB podium will be situated near the clock on Eastgate, it will be flanked by a big screen TV and accompanied by our live commentary team. From around 2pm there will be various acivities through Upper Bridge Street and along Eastgate to get everyone geared up for the arrival of the National Rally crews at 3.45pm. The main event reaches our streets at 6.45 pm when the top stars of World rallying will arrive en route back from a days action in Mid Wales. There will be opportunities for autographs and special selfie stations to capture the moment. This really will be an event not to be missed, the sounds echoing through the streets will be a real treat. We do expect large numbers for this free experience so please allow for traffic and arrive early.17th Nov to 18th Dec 2016
Chester's Christmas Market
Chester’s Christmas Market, managed by Marketing Cheshire, is back for a fourth year with more chalets and later opening hours. With an emphasis on local and regional produce, Chester Christmas Market gives visitors to the city a unique, festive shopping experience, as well as supporting many Chester and Cheshire small businesses, giving them an outlet to sell their wares over the busy Christmas period. The official opening of the market is on Friday 18th November, with a soft launch on Thursday 17th to coincide with the Light Switch On Parade and late night shopping in the city. The market will then run for a full month until Sunday 18th December.
